President Trump and V.P. Mike Pence on July 20th, 2017

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Yesterday, I met with Republican Senators at the White House and told them that now is the time for action. Obamacare was a big lie. “You can keep your doctor”—lie. “You can keep your plan”—lie. Now, people are hurting, and inaction is not an option. We must repeal and replace this disaster. The Senate should not leave for summer recess until it has passed a plan to give our people great healthcare. I’m ready to act; I have pen in hand. I’ll sign the legislation into law, and then we can celebrate for the American people.

– President Donald J. Trump

OBAMACARE FACT OF THE DAY

FACT: According to the most recent data, 1,066,360 families in Texas paid $247.5 million in penalties to the IRS for the right not to purchase health insurance.

WHITE HOUSE UPDATES

President Trump delivered remarks to the people of Poland saying, “I declare today for the world to hear that the West will never, ever be broken. Our values will prevail. Our people will thrive. And our civilization will triumph. So, together, let us all fight like the Poles – for family, for freedom, for country, and for God.

Polish Ambassador to the United States Piotr Wilczek on the Unbreakable Polish-American Bond, “On Thursday, as an active member of NATO and the European Union, Poland hosts President Trump on his second international trip. This visit will demonstrate the unbreakable bonds between Poland and the U.S. and address the challenges facing our neighborhood and the broader Euro-Atlantic community.”

President Trump met in Hamburg, Germany with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany to coordinate on key policy areas ahead of the G20 Summit.

Vice President Pence delivered remarks at the Kennedy Space Center where he reaffirmed the Trump Administration’s commitment to lead in space exploration and discovery.

The Congressional Budget Office is using a starting point from 2016 to predict the impact of repealing and replacing Obamacare that has already been proven inaccurate. The CBO has consistently failed to accurately predict how legislation will impact health insurance coverage.

Myth vs. Reality: Democrats are claiming the healthcare bill currently being considered by the Senate will “cut” Medicaid. However, under this bill Medicaid would increase from $393 billion this year to $464 billion in 2027—and that’s adjusting for inflation. Clearly, not a “cut.”

“Trump’s Defining Speech”

– Editorial Board, The Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board praised President Trump’s historic speech in Warsaw, noting it “offered the core of what could become a governing philosophy,” and is a “determined and affirmative defense of the Western tradition.” The speech “contained affirmation of ideas and principles and related them to the current political moment,” but it’s “most provocative argument was about our way of life,” the Journal wrote, noting the speech was both a warning to the West and a call to action.
